Sensemaking Community History

1st Fridays at 3 PM ET

Whether it is information architecture, technical writing, interaction design, content strategy or many others. Sensemaking is at the center of so many fields of practice.

We are curious about how to tell the story of sensemaking when it's so wrapped up in other stories.

In this monthly LIVE interview series we will bring in the people who were at the forefront of building the communities that touch what modern sensemaking has become.

Every season we will focus on a new community. This season, we are starting with the Information Architecture community.

July thru December 2026:

The stories that built Information Architecture

From the foundational agency days of the early 1990s to the structural shifts shaping the modern community, we’re bringing together the pioneers who defined the practice, featuring iconic panels of experts for an hour-long conversation each month for the rest of 2026.

As technology has advanced humans’ abilities to communicate and document more information over time, fields of study and domains of industry have cropped up and grown around various methods for structuring data intentionally.

Discover the oral history of the ideas, arguments, and specialist communities that shaped how knowledge is organized today.

Join hosts Cass Fellerman & David Farkas for a series of six live-recorded interviews produced by Mike Creech capturing the behind-the-scenes history of the Information Architecture (IA) movement.
